The Taraba State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has rejected claims of a leadership crisis within the party, labeling the allegations as baseless and politically motivated.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday at the party’s Secretariat in Jalingo, Senator Abubakar Umar Tutare, a member of the ADC Board of Trustees, refuted the claims, affirming that there is no leadership struggle at either the national or state level.
“I am not aware of any leadership struggle in the ADC, nor have I witnessed any,” he stated.
“It’s merely a rumor; people are spreading falsehoods. Any attempt by the APC to undermine the ADC will ultimately fail,” Tutare asserted.
The former federal lawmaker emphasized that the ADC consists of seasoned individuals who have held various government roles and are ready to contribute to the nation's progress.
He criticized the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) for mismanaging the country and urged Nigerians to seek a change in leadership during the upcoming general elections.
“It is regrettable that we exist in a country where leaders disregard the needs of the common people,” he remarked.
“Nigerians have witnessed how the APC governs and undermines the nation. I urge Nigerians to come out and vote this government out,” he continued.
In response to worries about Nigeria moving towards a one-party system, Tutare accused the APC of trying to monopolize the political arena. He expressed confidence that the ADC would perform well in the upcoming elections, particularly in Taraba State.
“We are challenging them, and with God's grace, we will overcome them in the general elections,” he declared.
“We aim to secure 18 House of Assembly seats in Taraba State. The ADC is fully prepared for the challenge,” he added.
Tutare mentioned that his visit to Jalingo was to evaluate the preparations for the inauguration of the new State ADC Secretariat.
