Super Falcons striker, Monday relishes maiden goal for Washington Spirit

Monday Gift can't hide her excitement after netting the winning goal in Washington Spirit's 1-0 victory over NWSL champions Orlando Pride.

It was Monday's maiden goal for Washington Spirit following her arrival from Spanish club, UD Tenerife last month.

The Nigeria international hit target on 63 minutes after capitalising on an error from goalkeeper Anna Moorehouse.

The defeat was Orlando Pride's first in 22 league outings.

Monday took to the social media to celebrate the goal and her team's victory.

“I’m really happy to get my first goal for the team. A decisive goal at that. It’s been a journey settling into a new league and environment, but I’m grateful for the support from the coaches, teammates, and fans. This goal is just the beginning. l,” she wrote on X.
