Stephen was overwhelmed as he expressed his hope that his father would be proud of him for stepping out of his comfort zone
The Geordie pair sent him to South Korea, where he faced some of his food phobias as well as other challenges.
At the beginning of the hour-long episode, he explained how his entire family prefers to stay within their comfort zones.
Speaking to the camera, Stephen, 48, stated, “As a family, we know what we enjoy, and that’s what we do, and we always have.”
“I am frightened; I find my phobias incredibly frustrating, but it’s time for change, and that change is now.”
However, he became emotional when he spoke of his late father Christopher.
He said, “If I were to tell my dad this, my dad passed away at the beginning of the year…sorry.”
As he fought back tears, he whispered, “He wouldn’t believe it.”
Dabbing his eyes with a tissue, he added, “I hope…he would be proud.”
Upon arriving in Korea, Stephen received a letter from his mother, which triggered his emotions once more.
He read, “My darling Stevie, when you read this letter, you will be in Korea.
“Since you were little, you have always believed in magic, and from the bottom of my heart, I hope you find the magic in this trip.
“Give it your best shot as you always do. On that note, my darling, your dad and I will be with you every step of the way.
“Come back quickly, love you forever, mum and dad.”
Viewers quickly noted Stephen’s courage while he was still mourning his father.
Stephen also became emotional in Korea after reading a letter from his mother
