SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY hinted at a revival of their classic badge following the exit of controversial owner Dejphon Chansiri.

Chansiri's unpopular 10-year tenure at Hillsborough concluded on Friday when he signed documents placing the club into administration.

The Owls have faced financial difficulties throughout the Thai businessman's tumultuous tenure, during which they were charged with financial misconduct.

However, they are now looking to move forward and seem to be implementing changes.

Their social media profiles on Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram now feature a new badge.

Since 2016, the team had worn a crest depicting an owl surrounded by blue lettering with the Latin phrase: “Consilio et animis”, which translates to: “By wisdom and courage”.

Currently, Wednesday's profile displays the crest they used from 1970 until 1984.

This design simply shows an owl, signaling a possible return to the club's origins.

This development comes as the EFL has imposed a 12-point penalty on the club, which is currently at the bottom of the league.

This penalty significantly jeopardizes the historic club's chances in the upcoming season.

The EFL issued a statement confirming that the point deduction will take effect immediately.

It stated: “While this development results in the automatic deduction of 12 points in accordance with Regulations agreed by all clubs, it also provides Sheffield Wednesday with the opportunity to move matters towards a successful sale and secure a future under new ownership.”

“The Championship table will be updated without delay.”

However, local administrators Begbies Traynor believe there is interest from FOUR parties already, with several more expected to emerge in the coming weeks.
