SHEFFIELD WEDNESDAY risk yet another points deduction if their proposed takeover does not go through – but it won’t impact them until next season.
According to rules, if the selling party does not get at least 25 per cent of what it is owed then the club can be docked 15 points.

, much-maligned owner Dejphon Chansiri is still waiting for someone to be able to pay up.
Administrators Begbies Traynor are attempting to find a buyer despite nine weeks with Bord, Felix Roemer, and Alsharif Faisal Bin Jamil keeping the club afloat.
They were not able to reduce the huge £47.8million asking price .
remain in minus points this season having won just one match out of 33.
They were beaten 2-1 by fierce local rivals at Bramall Lane, having their long-known fate sealed in the worst circumstances over the weekend.
But now things could continue to spiral if a new buyer can’t be found.
Wednesday will start the 2026-27 campaign on -15 if they don’t get someone willing to pay at the 25p per pound rate to creditors.
For Chansiri, that amounts to around £15million, with more needed to go elsewhere.
At the moment that may well be a best-case scenario because should the administrators not have an approved owner by next season, there will be no guarantee of being able to carry out matches, and it is a slippery slope.
Wednesday have already been docked 18 points for the financial problems that got them into this mess in the first place.
Bord and Co had been propping the Owls up since Christmas Eve, paying a non-refundable £2.5million as well as covering around £1million in losses per month.
They were due to pay again this week to extend the preferred bidder position for another fortnight but pulled out.
The EFL were going through the owners and directors test with Bord’s group but had not made significant progress.
Joint administrators Kris Wigfield, Paul Stanley, and Julian Pitts said: “The club has the necessary funding in place to trade through to the end of the current season.
“The withdrawal of this bidder does not mean we are returning to the beginning of the process.”
Bin Jamil explained: “The value is significantly less than we have bid.
“We have bid at a significantly higher value than has been reported.
“We have tried to look at in different ways but unfortunately it’s unjustifiable. We are very sad about it.
“We have pumped significant money into the club, besides the deposit, and paid for numerous advisors, so there are a lot of sunk costs.
“But unfortunately we have to pull out. We are incredibly sad, as we believe this club is royalty.
“There is no way to continue the process and get the valuation to a place where there is a fair price.”
He continued: “We bid a lot higher than £30million.
“That figure is not in the same ball park as our bid.
“But just because we can’t wrestle with the valuation, it doesn’t discount that somebody else can bid at £30m and I have already wished the administrators luck in finding someone who will.
“Time will tell but I wouldn’t be so hasty to say that somebody can’t hit that number, because avoiding a 15-point deduction is so important for the club and the fans.”
to save Wednesday.
The Storch family maintain their interest in the deal, saying: “We remain incredibly passionate about the opportunity at Sheffield Wednesday and seeing the club return to its former glory.
“We wish the preferred bidder well through the process but are ready to step in should the opportunity present itself again.
“We know all are disappointed by relegation yet wish the team well as they finish the current season.”
