After back-to-back losses to Merab Dvalishvili for the Bantamweight title, O’Malley had taken some time to reflect on his performances and hopes to get back into title contention.
With a big display on Saturday night, sets his sights on the newly crowned Petr Yan after he claimed the title in December.
Suga Sean and Yan already have some history in the , with O’Malley beating him by a close decision three years ago.
He’ll be hoping to convince to book that fight immediately if O’Malley wins this weekend.
Before then, it’s no simple task for the 31-year old, who faces fifth-ranked bantamweight fighter, Song Yadong.
Since climbing the ranks of the 135lbs division, Yadong has been a tough matchup for any opponent and has claimed some great wins over houshold names.
His most notable victories have come over Marlon Vera, Marlon Moraes and most recently Henry Cejudo.
A great outing for either man will put their name in the hat for a potential title fight later this year.
