Former Ghana coach, Claude Le Roy, has opened up on what he told Sadio Mane after Senegalese players walked off the pitch against Morocco during the AFCON final on Sunday.

Le Roy, a former Senegal coach, was seen engaging in a conversation with Mane moments after the Senegal team departed the pitch, following a controversial penalty awarded to Morocco by referee Jacques Ndala.

The incident unfolded just minutes after Ndala canceled a goal that had been scored by the Teranga Lions at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium.

Reflecting on the situation, Le Roy told Canal Plus, “When the Senegalese team left the pitch, Sadio Mane was alone on the field and he came to me and asked me what I’d do if I were in his place. I answered, I would’ve continued playing.

“I explained to him that the result wasn’t yet decided, then he went to bring his teammates back onto the field.”

Senegal clinched the AFCON title with a narrow 1-0 victory, courtesy of Pape Gueye’s decisive goal scored during first-half extra time.
