DOZENS of schools have axed Sports Days, across England with temperatures set to hit 34C this week.
A total of 41 have either cancelled, postponed or rescheduled the sporting events to avoid pupils overexerting themselves in the heat.

In guidance issued by the , “vigorous physical activity” should be avoided during higher temperatures, with schools guided to reschedule events like sports days for cooler days.
As a result, a number of across England have either cancelled, postponed or rescheduled sports days during the extreme weather.
Sports Day typically takes place around the end of the summer term, featuring a number of races and events that children compete in.
Yesterday, St Michael’s CE Primary School in opted to cancel its Sports Day scheduled for this week.
The school cited a lack of shaded area on its site as the reason for the cancellation, stating that “safety and wellbeing of our pupils, staff and families must always come first”.
St Patrick’s Catholic Primary School in Leamington Spa also announced that they would be cancelling their Sports Day today (July 6) owing to the hot weather.
Many more schools cancelled Sports Days during the hot weather last month, although a number did state they would be rescheduling or postponing the event for when cooler temperatures arrived.
Some of these rescheduled Sports Days have now taken place.
However, some schools told pupils and parents that they were unable to find time to re-host the event before the end of the school year, meaning children would miss out on the sporty competition.
Brits are set for , with highs of up to 34C forecast for the coming days.
A yellow heat health alert warning was issued earlier this week for parts of southern and eastern England and the East Midlands from midday on Saturday until 8pm on July 11.
However, the Met Office has said that this week’s temperatures “won’t be as hot and humid” as the heatwave last month.
The second UK heatwave last month saw record-breaking temperatures, with a rare red weather warning issued over parts of the country.
In June, a provisional temperature record was set in Lingwood, soaring to 37.7C in the Norfolk village, beating the previous June record of 35.6C back in 1976.
