The shock stabbing spree broke out at School No. 233 in the Obolon district at the beginning of the day, according to city officials and law enforcement.

The 39-year-old teacher and teen victim were rushed to hospital with stab and cut wounds, but are both expected to survive.

Disturbing pictures of the teen attacker posing in a balaclava and helmet, holding a knife and wearing a T-shirt bearing the slogan “Hitler is dead” in Ukrainian are doing the rounds in local media.

Authorities have not commented on the images but confirmed the teen’s devices are being examined.

The suspect, also 14, later injured himself after locking himself inside a school toilet.

He is now being treated at Okhmatdyt Children’s Hospital, Kyiv’s main children’s facility.

Police say the boy planned the rampage, changing into a mask and helmet inside a school cloakroom before storming a classroom armed with a knife.

Kyiv City State Administration deputy head Valentyn Mondriyevskyi said officers were on the scene within minutes.

He said: “This is a very unpleasant incident.

“We, as adults, must take care of the mental and physical health and safety of our children.”

Officials stressed the inquiry is ongoing and no final conclusions have been reached.

They added: “The motive for the crime will be established.”

Criminal proceedings have been opened for attempted murder of two or more people.

The horror attack sent shockwaves through the capital, where schools have bravely stayed open despite years of war, air raid alerts and repeated Russian strikes.

Prosecutors said officers will examine any possible Russian influence on the teen, noting that on his phone “a correspondence was found with unknown individuals – likely representatives of the Russian special services.”

The chilling photos released by national police show the suspect seated before officers wearing a T-shirt reading “Hitler kaputt,” or “Hitler is no more” in German.

Russia has long exploited World War II history to spread narratives that paint the Ukrainian leadership as “neo-Nazis” — which Kyiv and its Western allies deny as baseless.

Ukraine and Russia have repeatedly accused each other of trying to recruit or radicalise minors online.

Kyiv has warned of Russian efforts to manipulate young people but there is so far no official confirmation the Obolon attacker was acting on orders from abroad.

“All specialists are working on the scene,” Mondriyevskyi said. “We are keeping our finger on the pulse.”
