SAINSBURY’S shoppers are scrambling to get their hands on bargain tubs of Ben & Jerry’s that are scanning for less than £1.50.

The cut-price ice cream has been spotted by several customers, with some admitting it was such a good deal they wanted to keep it to themselves.

The price appears to only apply to the Ben & Jerry’s Oh My Banoffe Pie Sundae edition, featuring banana with caramel cups and cookie swirls, topped with whipped ice cream, caramel swirls and chocolate chunks.

Taking to the Facebook group, Extreme Couponing & Bargains UK, one customer finally relented to share the deal with fellow money-savers.

She wrote: “I must confess I’ve been holding on to this bargain, but after getting through 8 tubs thought it was time to share.

“B&J banoffee sundae £1.49 in Sainsbury’s.

“Not priced on shelf and seems to only be this flavour. I managed to get in 3 different stores so doesn’t seem to be store specific.”

Meanwhile other lucky shoppers had discovered the same trick.

What is the UK's cheapest supermarket?

WE'RE all looking for ways to save on our supermarket shops. But which store should you go to if you're on a strict budget?

According to Which?, who compare thousands of prices at the top eight UK supermarkets – Aldi, Asda, Lidl, Morrisons, Ocado, Sainsbury’s, Tesco and Waitrose – every month, there’s one place that outweighs the rest in terms of being budget-friendly.

In April 2024, Aldi was at the top of the list, with Which? comparing 67 popular groceries costing an average of £112.90.

Lidl isn’t far behind, at £115.23, followed by Asda in third place with a bill of £126.98.

Tesco was next, at £128.17, while Sainsbury’s rounded out the top five with £131.02.

They wrote: “Sainsburys Torquay today ! Shelf edge label said £5.50 but scanned at £1.49 🥳”

“Been gate keeping this for a while why did you have to post,” wrote another.

Meanwhile a third added: “I got 3 when I realised the price at the till.”

“Shhhhhh! Dont ruin it for us,” joked another.
