THE fashion team at Sainsbury’s have just given the classic holiday flip flops a “fun twist” with a nod to a 90s trend.

It’s been a number of decades since jelly shoes first launched into popularity, but the supermarket’s in-house label Tu Clothing is helping to bring them back around again as a suitcase staple.

Insiders at Tu have insisted that jelly sandals are firmly back in focus for summer 2026, with searches for “jelly” on their site up over 6000% year-on-year.

And their £7 jelly flip flops offer a clean, modern take on the nostalgic staple.

Available in black, red and turquoise, they’re lightweight and effortlessly wearable – and come in sizes 3-8.

The pared-back silhouette moves easily from city heat to coastal escape, and are an easy way to dip your toe into one of the season’s most searched and fastest-rising trends.

Describing the Jelly Flip Flops on the website, the TU fashion team say: “This pair of flip flops are a timeless classic with a fun twist.

“Made from a retro-inspired jelly material, they’re a lightweight and eye-catching winner for your holiday suitcase.”

As well as being on-trend for summer, the £7 flip flops are also £27.99 cheaper than the Crocs version – and are very similar to a £23.99 pair being sold in Zara.

And they’ve already received five-star reviews, as one shopper gushed: “So lovely and comfortable. Really looking forward to taking this on holiday. A beautiful colour and at a bargain price.”

Meanwhile, a second wrote: “I brought these in red. Loved them. Then realised there was a sale on and other colours available so I went straight back ordered the blue and the black.

“Love that they are jelly shoes! Love the colours and they are so comfy. Totally holiday ready now!”
