Borno South Senator, Ali Ndume, has said removing the country’s service chiefs will not solve Nigeria’s security challenges.

In a statement on Thursday, the All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker said those demanding their removal have ulterior motives and do not mean well for the present administration and Nigerians.

“People calling for the removal of the current service chiefs have hidden agendas and are not acting in the best interest of this government or the Nigerian people.”

Ndume argued that defeating terrorism, banditry, and insurgency requires proper support for the military and other security agencies.

“I want to restate my call for a proactive TEAM approach, which means Training, Equipment, Ammunition and Motivation,” he said.

“This combination would go a long way to counter terrorism, banditry, and insurgency.”

The senator stressed that soldiers and security operatives need better welfare and modern weapons to end insecurity in the country.
