The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has issued a strong warning to Senator Ajibola Basiru, advising him against meddling in the politics of Rivers State following his public endorsement of Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Wike conveyed this warning while speaking to supporters in the Oyigbo Local Government Area of Rivers State, asserting that the state is off-limits to political figures he considers outsiders.

In response to Basiru’s comments, the former governor of Rivers cautioned against underestimating the support of Rivers leaders for President Bola Tinubu.

“Do not take our backing for the President lightly. You need to be cautious with the comments you make,” Wike stated.

In a strongly worded declaration, the minister labeled Rivers a political “no-go area,” warning that anyone who attempts to intrude should be ready to face the repercussions.

“When the President returns, I will inform the Minister of Blue Economy to relay this message – if you reach out to Rivers State and get burned, do not say I caused it,” he remarked.

Wike continued, “I can challenge anyone. This state is a no-go area, whether you like it or not. Go and inquire about those who have attempted it before. If you speak about Rivers State, be prepared for the consequences.”

The minister accused unnamed political figures of making “unnecessary noise” regarding Rivers politics and urged them to concentrate on their own matters.

“So accept what you have taken. Stop creating unnecessary noise,” he emphasized.

Senator Basiru had previously expressed support for Governor Fubara amidst the ongoing political tensions in Rivers State.
