As the 2027 election approaches, the incumbent lawmaker representing Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency, Nnamdi Ezechi and his predecessor, Ossai Ossai, have drawn a battle line.
While Ezechi has accused Ossai of plotting to sponsor protests against him, Ossai has alleged unfounded accusation.
Ezechi, in a statement made available to journalists, alleged that the planned protest was aimed at creating disaffection and undermining his reputation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He described the alleged move as unnecessary, insisting that he maintains a cordial relationship with his constituents and remains committed to effective representation.
“Such actions, if allowed to materialise, could heighten political tension, threaten peace and security in Ndokwa land, and destabilise the polity.
“Security agencies should remain vigilant and take proactive steps to forestall what he described as an “evil plan,”
He urged his constituents to remain calm and law-abiding.
However, Ossai dismissed the claims as “baseless, misleading, and unfounded,” urging the public to disregard such allegations.
Ossai’s media team accused Ezechi of attempting to manufacture allegations instead of focusing on governance and service delivery, pointing out that no credible evidence had been presented to support the protest claim.
The team stated that the accusations do not reflect reality and were a misrepresentation capable of misleading constituents, except recent calls by various stakeholders, including youths, women, and community leaders, urging the former representative to contest in 2027.
“The calls are spontaneous expressions of goodwill based on my past performance, and not part of any orchestrated political agenda. He has never been associated with sponsoring protests or engaging in actions that could disrupt public peace.”
