The Taraba State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has warned members of the party against accepting political appointment from the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The APC, which issued the warning in a statement signed by the state chairman, Barrister Ibrahim Tukur El-Sudi, on Tuesday, said it will not hesitate to deregister any member who violates the directive.
“No member of the party is permitted to accept appointments from the incumbent state government without an approval from the APC’s National Working Committee, NWC,”; the public notice read.
Referencing Article 9.5 of the APC Constitution (Amended 2022), the party, also warned that any member who accepts such appointments without the NWC’s clearance will automatically forfeit their party membership.
“A person shall cease to be a member of the party if he accepts political appointment from another political party in government without the approval of the National Working Committee,”; the statement read.
Demonstrating its readiness to carry out it threat, the party has directed the 168 ward chairmen to immediately expunge the names of the affected individuals from the party’s register.
The party’s chairmen in the 16 local government councils of the state have also been mandated to identify those who have accepted positions in the PDP-led government and prevent them from participating in the party’s upcoming electronic registration exercise.
The party, through its state chairman, reiterated its commitment to loyal and principled members, assuring that their dedication would be recognized and rewarded in due time.
“We thank all principled and law-abiding members for remaining steadfast and patient,”; the notice read.
Several members of the APC in Taraba State were included in the long list of aides recently appointed by the incumbent state governor, a situation which DAILY POST noticed has not to have gone down well with the leadership of the major opposition party.
