Earlier this week, she strongly accused her detractors of “mansplaining” her role as Chancellor.

When asked if the criticism directed at his Chancellor is sexist, he responded: “I’m incredibly proud to have the first female Chancellor in hundreds of years – it’s been 700 or 800 years.”

“I’m very proud that we have a female Chancellor who is performing exceptionally well.”

He continued: “I firmly believe that women in public roles face significantly more criticism and abuse than men do.”

“This applies to politics, but it is also evident in many other fields – I would also point out the media, to be frank.”

“We need to recognize this reality.”

“While all politicians receive their share of criticism and abuse, I am acutely aware that women endure far more of it than men, and it’s high time we acknowledged that.”
