A PREMIER LEAGUE prospect suffered a severe injury during Wednesday’s match between Everton U21 and Bradford City.
18-year-old winger Joel Catesby was stretchered off during his team’s 5-1 defeat to the Bantams in the Trophy on Tuesday night.

He was the victim of a tough yet seemingly harmless tackle from right-back Brad Halliday as he attempted to launch a counterattack in the 58th minute.
The referee promptly halted the game as the teenager remained on the ground, clearly in distress.
In footage of the match, which was aired on Sky Sports+, viewers quickly observed a visibly severe injury to Catesby’s ankle.
Catesby’s boot was pointed unnaturally in the wrong direction, indicating a possible fracture or serious dislocation of the joint.
He remained on the ground for nearly ten minutes receiving treatment before being carried off the pitch to the warm applause of both home and away fans.
The club swiftly extended their best wishes for his recovery on social media.
They stated: “Everyone at the Club wishes Joel Catesby a swift recovery following the injury sustained away at Bradford this evening.
“We will keep fans updated on the extent of Joel’s injury in due time. Best wishes, Joel.”
Their message was echoed by supporters from both teams.
One Everton fan remarked: “Horrific injury for any player. Wishing you a speedy recovery, Joel.”

A Bradford fan added: “All fans wish Joel a swift and complete recovery. Hope to see him back on the pitch as soon as possible.”
In a display of sportsmanship, Bradford midfielder and former Everton youth player Jenson Metcalfe began his post-match interview by expressing his well wishes for Catesby.
He said: “Firstly, I want to wish Joel a speedy recovery. It’s never easy to see someone go down like that, and it’s clear it will be a long road to recovery.
“But he has excellent medical staff supporting him, and I am confident he will come back stronger.”
As of now, we do not have further information about the severity of the teenager’s injury, but it is likely he will face a lengthy period on the sidelines while he recuperates.
He joined the club at the young age of four and signed his first professional contract last year, but unfortunately, he had a season plagued by injuries with the U18 side.
