DOZENS of postcodes have been hit with delivery delays as Royal Mail continues to miss targets.

Royal Mail‘s service levels were recently branded as “unacceptable” by Ofcom.

has extended delivery delays to 31 more UK postcodes after missing performance targets again.

From today, locations across England, Wales and Scotland will now face further delays when receiving post.

Royal Mail attempts to deliver every day, however, a small number of local offices, high level of absences, resourcing and local factors can all cause delays.

Earlier this week, launched an investigation into Royal Mail’s failure to hit delivery targets in the previous financial year.

Delivery data revealed that for the financial year up until March, only 75.7 per cent of Royal Mail’s First Class post was delivered the next working day – considerably lower than its target of 93 per cent.

Ofcom has previously fined Royal Mail more than £37million for postal delays which it described as “unacceptable”.

has now pledged to invest £500million over the next five years to improve the quality of delivery services.

Its most recent delays, announced today, span from Ashington to Dover, hitting some of the most strained offices.

The following postcodes should expect postcode delays from today:

  • Ashington: NE22, NE62, NE63, NE64
  • Bridge Of Don: AB22, AB23
  • Brierley Hill: DY5
  • Chipping Norton: OX7
  • Dover: CT15, CT16, CT17
  • Faversham: ME13
  • Flint: CH6, CH8
  • Huntingdon: PE26, PE27, PE28, PE29
  • Lydney: GL15
  • Nottingham City: NG1, NG3
  • Oxford East: OX3, OX4, OX33, OX44, OX49
  • Pontyclun: CF72
  • Portslade: BN41, BN42
  • Tarporley: CW6
  • Tobermory: PA75

Delays will be seen in Ashington, Bridge of Don, Brierley Hill, Chipping Norton, Dover, Faversham, Flint, Huntingdon, Lydney, Nottingham City, Oxford East, Pontyclun, Portslade, Tarporley, and Tobermory.

Royal Mail is yet to confirm when these will end for customers, and how long post will actually take to arrive.
