Police inspector on special duty dies in Yobe

A police inspector serving under the Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK) Joint Task Force has died while on special duty in Yobe State.

The deceased, identified as Inspector Pascal Okpabi of the 5 PMF Benin, reportedly collapsed while on duty at 233 Battalion, Damaturu.

His death was disclosed in a post by counterinsurgency expert and security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on Monday through his verified X handle.

According to police sources quoted by Makama, the tragic incident occurred on Saturday, May 4, at about 4:50 p.m.

The officer was immediately rushed to the University Teaching Hospital, Damaturu, where medical personnel diagnosed him with a partial stroke linked to high blood pressure.

“He was confirmed dead at about 4:30 p.m. the same day while receiving treatment,”; the post stated.

The Unit Commander, ASP Ogwouno Ekene, who was supervising Inspector Okpabi, formally reported the incident. The late officer hailed from Ebonyi State, and his family has been informed of the development.

Arrangements for his burial are said to be underway.
