Members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from all 17 local government areas of Plateau State gathered on Monday in Jos to urge Governor Caleb Mutfwang to leave the PDP and join the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Among those present at the rally were several PDP leaders, including Dung Tari, a former chairman of the party in Jos South LGA, who convened at the State Secretariat Junction, the location of the event.
The group's leader, Christopher Danjem, addressed the crowd, emphasizing that the governor’s defection was crucial for the welfare of the people of Plateau State.
“We, a coalition of PDP members from across Plateau State, are urging State Governor Barrister Caleb Mutfwang to join the All Progressives Congress after assessing the current situation in our beloved state and country.
“We recognize the governor's efforts in Plateau State. He has demonstrated effective leadership and an ability to deliver good governance. We also see the initiatives of the Federal Government. We want him to align with Mr. President to secure more federal projects for Plateau.
“Furthermore, we are aware that His Excellency, Mr. President, holds a favorable view of us in Plateau. Following the recent attacks, he sent his wife, Her Excellency, Senator Remi Tinubu, to extend her condolences, and we acknowledge her efforts. Therefore, we encourage our governor to join the APC for the benefit of the people of Plateau,” he stated.
