Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Mutfwang, inaugurated the Protocol Sub-Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Monday, in preparation for the party’s convention set to take place in November 2025, in Ibadan, Oyo State.
While overseeing the process as the Chairman of the Protocol Sub-Committee at the Legacy House, Maitama, Abuja, Mutfwang stated that this is a vital step that indicates the party’s readiness for the 2027 elections and reinforces the PDP’s strength, discipline, and unity despite the challenges the party has faced in recent years.
He further asserted that although the PDP has encountered significant setbacks, including unnecessary internal conflicts and the defection of some of its prominent members to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), the PDP remains a formidable force and is not only prepared but also determined to organize a seamless, world-class political convention with renewed confidence ahead of the general elections.
Gov. Mutfwang remarked that with the establishment of the Protocol Sub-Committee, the PDP is reigniting the political landscape, as preparations are in full swing for its highly anticipated Elective Convention.
During the inauguration, Gov. Mutfwang stated: “Today’s gathering illustrates that the PDP is very much alive, and we are taking the convention quite seriously.
“This is why we are undertaking our responsibilities with utmost seriousness. I have always believed that the founding fathers of the PDP would not want to see the party diminish during our time. Thus, we have a sacred duty to keep this platform vibrant and robust for the people of Nigeria.”
The Plateau governor underlined that the protocol team's role is crucial for the convention's success, encouraging members to leverage their experience and professionalism to ensure a smooth and memorable event.
He clarified that the inauguration was not merely ceremonial but an opportunity for members to connect, strategize, and create synergy aimed at delivering an exceptional convention experience in Ibadan, one that would restore confidence among Nigerians.
He emphasized that the PDP remains the most credible and people-oriented political platform in Nigeria and across Sub-Saharan Africa, committed to upholding its values and positioning itself as the trusted vehicle for Nigeria’s democratic renewal.
