Big Brother Naija reality star, Phyna, has accused the Dangote Group of negligence and insensitivity regarding the death and burial of her sister, Ruth Otabor.
In a series of posts shared on Instagram, Phyna claimed that her sister’s death was not only tragic but also orchestrated and intentional.
She alleged that the Dangote Group failed to fully cover the medical and burial expenses as previously announced publicly.
According to Phyna, the company only settled the charges at Lagoon Hospital in Lagos, while the family had to bear the financial burden for additional expenses from Auchi to Irrua.
“The bills from Auchi down to Irrua were paid by the family; no reimbursement has been made,” she expressed.
Phyna further claimed that on the day of Ruth’s burial, efforts to contact the Dangote Group were unsuccessful.
“Also on September 13th, the day of the burial, the Dangote Group did not answer any of our calls, as we were informed that the bills had not been settled, despite their claims,” she wrote.
The reality star also shared a letter drafted by the Dangote Group and sent to her father, requesting him to sign an acknowledgment of receipt concerning burial expenses.
She accused the company of impersonation, arguing that the family should have been directly asked to provide such a letter.
“This letter that was sent to my dad this evening is truly upsetting. @dangotegroup, you caused my sister's death, conducted extensive public relations, provided my father with money for the burial, and then wrote an acknowledgment letter impersonating my father and sent it to him to sign,” she wrote.
Phyna stated that this act indicated a deliberate effort to manipulate the narrative after the burial, questioning why a company of that stature would resort to such actions instead of treating her family with honesty and respect.
