The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, stated that President Bola Tinubu has made significant contributions to Rivers State and the South-South region.
Keyamo spoke on Friday during the inauguration of the 7km Ipo Town–Airport Bypass and the commissioning of the Ikwerre Road–Igwuruta–Airport Road Corridor, which was reconstructed by the Rivers State Government.
While inaugurating the bypass, the minister expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for what he referred to as the President's numerous contributions to the citizens of Rivers State, adding that Tinubu has facilitated alignment for all South-South states with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He pointed out that Rivers State has historically never been in opposition.
Keyamo also officially welcomed Governor Siminalayi Fubara into the APC.
He remarked, “We set a trap to catch a frog, but instead, we caught an elephant in the form of Sir Siminalayi Fubara. Welcome to the fold of the progressives, sir. Welcome to the big family and to the largest party in Africa.”
The Minister of Aviation further stated that Fubara’s shift from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) signifies the demise of the essence of the opposition party.
He noted that Fubara’s entrance into the APC indicates that “the soul of the PDP has departed the party.”
Keyamo was present at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where he observed Governor Fubara receiving his APC membership card from the leadership of the party, led by Tony Okocha.
According to DAILY POST, Governor Fubara had previously announced his intention to join the APC on Tuesday.
He explained that his transition from the PDP to the APC is in the best interest of the people of Rivers State and serves as a gesture of appreciation to President Bola Tinubu, whom he credited with being the reason he remains the Governor of Rivers State.
