A lawmaker representing the Sabon Gari Federal Constituency, Sadiq Abdullahi, has declared his resignation from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He announced his departure on Monday, citing the party’s escalating internal conflicts and what he referred to as a loss of direction as the main reasons for his exit.

This decision follows what he described as a prolonged period of factionalism that has hindered his ability to effectively serve his constituents.

His resignation comes shortly after that of the former National Secretary of the party, Sunday Udeh Okoye.

Abdullahi, who serves as the Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on the Federal Roads Maintenance Agency (FERMA), communicated his resignation in a letter addressed to his ward chairman.

“The ongoing internal conflicts and factionalization within the PDP, which have led to a drawn-out party crisis, are negatively impacting my capacity to represent my constituency effectively and fulfill my responsibilities to the best of my ability,” he stated.

“I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the PDP for the opportunity to serve under its banner. The support, trust, and experiences I have gained during my time with the party have been invaluable,” Abdullahi remarked.
