Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) are set to gather in Zamfara State this weekend for a key meeting ahead of the party’s national convention.

Governor Dauda Lawal, will receive his colleagues at Gusau on Saturday, August 23, 2025.

Most of the governors are expected to arrive in the state capital on Friday evening for a dinner ahead of the closed-door talks.

In a stand by Sulaiman Bala Idris, spokesperson to the Zamfara governor, the meeting will focus on strengthening unity among party leaders and mapping out strategies for the future.

“Governor Dauda Lawal extends a warm welcome to his counterparts. The PDP governors are holding an important session of the Governors Forum in Gusau,” the statement read.

The forum will also serve as an avenue for the governors to discuss major political issues, review challenges facing their states, and share ideas on developmental projects.

Another issue on the agenda is the preparation for the PDP national convention, which the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) has scheduled to hold in Ibadan, Oyo State, on November 15 and 16, 2025.
