PDP crisis: South-East leaders, chairmen endorse Anyanwu as National Secretary

South-East leaders and state chairmen of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, have recognized Samuel Anyanwu as the authentic National Secretary of the party.

The decision was taken at the Abia State PDP secretariat in Umuahia on Friday, during an expanded meeting that attracted some national officials of the party.

Explaining the reason for recognizing Anyanwu, the South-East PDP leaders spoke of the need to respect the Supreme Court judgement which they said affirmed him as the authentic National Secretary of the party.

PDP National Vice Chairman, South-East, Chidiebere Goodluck, who addressed the expanded meeting, advised all aggrieved members to return to the fold to strengthen the party for future election victories.

He said that PDP being a law abiding institution, believes in the rule of law which entails that Anyanwu and other leaders of the PDP be supported to lead the party at the national and state levels.

Also, the chairman of Imo State PDP, Austin Nwachukwu, said Anyanwu is the recognised National Secretary of the party.

He commended the members of the Abia State PDP led by former Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, the chairman Abraham Amah and Senator Austin Akobundu, for their efforts in maintaining unity and focus.

Earlier in his speech, Abia State PDP chairman Abraham Amah said he has obtained the Certified True Copy of the court ruling sacking the elected executives of the PDP in the state.

He said the judgement will be challenged at the Appeal Court.
