A member of the Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bode George, has stated that former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido has the right to run for the chairmanship of the party.
George made this remark on Tuesday while answering questions during an interview on Politics Today, a program on Channels Television, which was monitored by DAILY POST.
His statement follows Lamido’s threat to pursue legal action against the PDP for allegedly preventing him from obtaining the nomination form necessary to contest for the position of National Chairman.
“The fact that PDP leaders gathered and endorsed a single individual as a consensus candidate does not imply that others cannot compete,” he said.
“The goal is to make the process smooth. It’s an internal matter. We have done this in the past, and the party has never indicated that anyone is barred from contesting.”
“Sule Lamido has the right to compete. He can acquire the form, complete it, and follow the standard procedure to appear on the day of the convention. We will vote,” George asserted.
