Ozzy Osbourne’s historic farewell gig before tragic death will finally come to big screen – and sooner than fans think

NEXT month 1,500 cinemas across 35 countries will be rocking out as Ozzy Osbourne’s Back To The Beginning concert will finally come to cinemas.

The performance on 5 July ended up being Ozzy’s last but his wife Sharon said he was determined to make it happen.

“Back to the Beginning came about because I asked Ozzy what would really make him happy,” Sharon explained.

“And he said the only thing that would make him happy was if he could perform again and say goodbye to his fans.

“That’s all he wanted to do. He wanted to say goodbye and thank you.”

I was lucky enough to be among the fans at the concert, which sold out in minutes, and watched Black Sabbath’s original members perform for the first time in over 20 years.

It was spine tingling for me. But for Sabbath, it was a moment they will never forget.

“It was closure for the band,” Tony Iommi told me. “It was a good way to go out.”

Geezer Butler added: “To me it was like pure love.

“It was just a wave of love. It’s the only way I can describe it really. I mean I could feel it as if it was tangible.”

As well as watching an incredible moment in music history, and Ozzy’s final bow, you can witness performances from metal god groups including Pantera, Metallica and Guns N Roses, as well as the bone-shudderingly good rendition of Ozzy’s 1972 hit Changes by the phenomenal Yungblud.

Summing it up, Tom Morello from Rage Against The Machine, who was the musical director of Back To The Beginning, said: “There’s never been anything like that that’s happened in the history of rock and roll.

“There’s never been a precedent for a show like this.

“Black Sabbath get to play their final show basically in the Ground Zero of where they created heavy metal.”

It’s more than enough to whet the appetites of Ozzy fans as work now turns to the big-budget biopic about his life which Sharon is working on now.

A source told me: “The script is being tweaked and worked on as a final draft with Sony Studios looking for directors.

“Sharon has been measuring up who could play her and deliver the intensity of her personality while holding it together while Ozzy goes through his demons on screen.”

I’m told actors including Emma Laird, Emerald Fennell and Jack O’Connell are all being eyed-up for parts by the family.

“Nothing is set in stone yet and it’s all still very early days,” my insider added.

“But the wheels are in motion and something very special is being cooked up.”
