The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has refuted claims circulating online that it has already selected a candidate for the 2026 Osun State governorship election.
In a statement, the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, labeled the reports as false and misleading.
“ADC does not hand-pick candidates, and no individual has been chosen prior to the primary process,” he stated.
Abdullahi clarified that the party has officially announced the date for its Osun primaries and emphasized its dedication to internal democracy.
“The alleged announcement being circulated originates from unverified sources and publications, not from any official ADC channel.
“Until the primaries are conducted by the party’s authorized bodies, no candidacy is considered valid or recognized,” he added.
He further assured that the party would ensure a free, fair, and equitable playing field for all aspirants.
“We urge the public to ignore any and all such reports,” Abdullahi stated.
