The Chairperson of the Electoral Committee and Deputy National Chairman of the Accord Party, Hajia Mariam Saleh, has assured members that the Osun governorship primary election will be conducted with transparency.
She also stated that the committee will “diligently conduct the primaries to reflect the will of the members in the state.”
Saleh made this statement while addressing members shortly before the Accord primary gubernatorial election on Wednesday in Osogbo.
She added that the party is committed to ensuring a fair playing field, emphasizing that “ACCORD is a robust party that upholds the rule of law and democratic values.”
She urged delegates to conduct themselves with integrity, asserting that this would “demonstrate that Accord has the finest political manifesto in the nation.”
Saleh characterized the primary as a significant moment for the party and called upon all participants to adhere to its constitution and the Electoral Act.
The Secretary of the Electoral Committee, Azeez Olawumi, also stressed the importance of following guidelines throughout the process.
Saleh reiterated that Osun remains a stronghold for the Accord Party and expressed the party's intention to expand its influence to other states.
She concluded by encouraging members to use the primary to “show that Accord is the premier political platform in the country.”
Meanwhile, Pastor Victor Akande, the caretaker committee head of the Osun State Accord Party, revealed that five delegates from each local government area in Osun State are participating in the gubernatorial primary.
Pastor Akande noted that the delegates have been properly accredited to take part in this process, which he described as a vital step in enhancing internal democracy within the party.
