But there was a time where his career prospects looked to be on the ropes after he sustained a gruesome leg break in training in 2024.

The 22-year-old had broken through as a depth option under in the 2023/24 season, and impressed in City’s win over rivals in the 2024 .

He ended up making 14 appearances that season, primarily from the bench, and seemed primed to have a more active role in the first team the following season.

But days before the side’s league opener against , Bobb .

He told the Mail : “I heard it break. Just a slip, two or three days before we played Chelsea to open the season.

“Broke my fibula, tore a ligament in my ankle and some cartilage. It was a nasty injury.

“‘Everybody says bad timing, and I see that point – but had it happened two or three years before, I probably never would have got the chance in the first team.

“The fact I got in and then got injured is probably better. I know a lot of academy players who struggle with injuries and never got the chance, so I didn’t really look at it that way.”

Though the injury in its own right justified a lengthy spell on the sidelines, complications in his recovery meant that Bobb’s absence was repeatedly set back.

He continued: “I hadn’t been walking right, so I got a stress response in my foot. It ended up being eight months when the expectation was five and the toughest part was the last two months.

“It did drag on a bit and then the biggest thing was my sharpness, that was so hard to get back but now I’m fully fit. I feel great.”

Bobb finally made his return in the 85th minute of City’s 2-0 win over Leicester in April, but only managed a few more minutes in the run-in to the end of the season.

He enjoyed a more regular run of games at the start of the current season, starting the first three of City’s matches, and getting minutes in all but one of the side’s first nine league fixtures.

But a hamstring injury in December again left him out of action in the North West, prompting a change of scenery for the attacker in the winter.

Now starring under , he has appeared in each of the Cottagers’ league games since he was deemed fit again.

He added: “I’m sure we can achieve great things. We have great depth and quality – we can definitely push for Europe. We have a difficult tie but the can be a serious target in the years ahead.

“I want to become an important player for the club. I want to play in every game, I’ve not had that in my career so that’s a big goal, and I want to leave my mark on games, score more goals, which I think I can do.”
