Suspected ISWAP militants have carried out an attack on Madiya village, located in the Gujba Local Government Area of Yobe State, resulting in one fatality and significant property damage.
Multiple sources informed Zagazola Makama, a counterinsurgency specialist, that the incident took place on December 2, 2025.
The armed assailants invaded the community around 11:50 PM, targeting the home of a man named Umar Jalam, aged 50, where they fatally shot him in the chest and subsequently set his house on fire.
The attackers also destroyed a local provision store and stole nine cows along with one tricycle belonging to the residents.
The victim was pronounced dead at the General Hospital in Buni-Yadi.
Troops, in collaboration with vigilante groups and hunters, were reported to have visited the site and are intensifying efforts to capture the fleeing suspects and recover the stolen items.
