Former Ogun Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Chairman, Sikirulah Ogundele has mocked the party’s 2023 governorship candidate, Ladipupo Adetutu over his loss at polling unit and ward at Iperu-Remo in the Saturday’s bye-election.

DAILY POST reports that Ogundele had alongside other members of the party defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.

The election held on Saturday was to replace late Adewunmi Oriyomi Onanuga, the former lawmaker representing Ikenne/Sagamu/Remo North Federal constituency, who passed away in January after a brief illness.

In Adebutu’s polling unit, Iperu III, Ikenne Local government, the APC polled 96 votes, PDP 60 votes, ADC 1 votes, LP 0 vote and SDP 1 vote.

The main contender in the poll included APC’s candidate, Adesola Elegbeji and her PDP counterpart, Bolarinwa Oluwole.

Ogundele attributed the electoral defeat to the recent mass movement of credible members across the state from the party to the ruling APC, which according to him, is more formidable, well organised, and credible

He described the outcome of the poll as a true reflection of wishes of majority of electorates in the Remo Federal Constituency and by extension Ogun people who believe strongly in the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and Abiodun’s government in the state.

Ogundele stated that the party would record more losses in the future elections, saying majority of the people have lost trust in the current leadership of the party in the state and the country at large.
