The Ogun State Government has announced that the burial of the late Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, will take place today, July 14, 2025.

According to a statement by the Secretary to the State Government, Tokunbo Talabi, the final rites will hold at 4 p.m. at Ogbagba Court in Igbeba, Ijebu-Ode.

The respected monarch passed away on Sunday, July 13, at the age of 91.

The government also called on residents to pray for his family during this time.

In a tribute on Sunday, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu described the late Awujale as one of Nigeria’s most revered traditional rulers who served his people with dignity and a deep sense of duty for over 65 years.

He said Oba Adetona’s leadership brought progress and unity to Ijebuland and the nation at large.
