The Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, has applauded residents of the state for their patience and cooperation amid ongoing traffic diversions occasioned by the rehabilitation works on the Ogudu-Ifako Bridge corridor.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, LASTMA’s General Manager, Mr Olalekan Bakare-Oki, acknowledged the sacrifices made by motorists and commuters, noting that their resilience reflects the collective spirit that defines Lagos.

Speaking during an inspection tour of diversion points around Ifako, Bakare-Oki reassured road users that the project was being executed in line with global engineering standards and would be delivered within the timeframe earlier announced by the state government.

“I sincerely empathise with Lagosians over the inconveniences caused by this temporary diversion. However, this rehabilitation is crucial not only to guarantee the structural integrity of the bridge but also to safeguard lives and improve the overall commuting experience along this strategic transport corridor,” he explained.

The LASTMA boss commended the efforts of the agency’s officers deployed to manage diversion routes, saying their professionalism had ensured smooth traffic flow with no reported complaints from the public.

He restated LASTMA’s commitment to effective traffic control during the period, pointing out that officers remained strategically positioned to ease congestion, assist motorists, and provide real-time interventions.

Bakare-Oki urged Lagos residents to continue to adhere strictly to traffic instructions, stressing that the inconveniences experienced today are temporary sacrifices toward achieving a safer, more resilient, and modernised transport system for the state.
