I have been told they were discouraged from the venue by their friend, who had a residency there from September 2023 to March of the following year.
I was fortunate enough to attend a show and it was absolutely amazing – aside from experiencing motion sickness from the psychedelic visuals.
According to one of my sources within the band, their friend warned Noel and Liam about the staggering expenses associated with performing there.
They shared: “Noel has always admired Bono's ability to deliver spectacular shows, from Zooropa to PopMart and the Achtung Baby revival at The Sphere.
“They now have the power and resources after their Live ‘25 tour to establish a residency at The Sphere.
“Their graphics team is exceptional, and they possess the skills to create an immersive experience for fans at The Sphere, showcasing graphics of the band from their early days to the present.
“However, when the idea of performing at The Sphere was brought up, Noel expressed his reluctance.
“He recalled Bono complaining about the enormous costs of staging a show there.
“He has always been mindful of the financial implications for himself and the band regarding their show expenses.
“He’s not going to spend money on a spectacle that will result in losses for him and everyone else involved.”
