NPFL: Oyo FA bans journalist over match-fixing allegations against Shooting Stars

Published on May 07, 2025 at 10:16 AM

The Oyo State Football Association, OYSFA, has placed a one-year ban on Yoruba sports caster and Prince FM 88.7 staff member, Shola Ayegbajeje, for his false match-fixing allegations against the Shooting Stars management and players.

The OYSFA announced the sanction in a letter signed by its secretary, Kehinde Ojelowo, after a disciplinary hearing at the Lekan Salami Sports Complex in Ibadan.

Ayegbajeje admitted that all his reports were lies and fabricated.

He added that his presentation on the live radio program was generated by his emotional distress as a result of Shooting Stars’ recent poor run of form in the league.

The OYSFA ordered Ayegbajeje to write an apology to the Shooting Stars management and also to write an undertaking to the state FA not to engage in any activity that would bring the round leather game into disrepute.

DAILY POST recalls that Ayegbajeje accused the Shooting Stars management, players, and referees of match-fixing in the games against Katsina United, Lobi Stars and Remo Stars.
