The management of Enyimba Football Club in Aba has clarified that it did not reduce the salaries of its players by 50 percent.

According to the Enyimba management, no such punitive action was taken against the players following their 0-1 home defeat to Wikki Tourists of Bauchi on Sunday.

In response to reports circulating on social media, the Enyimba management labeled the claims regarding the salary cuts as ‘misleading’.

In a statement shared on Enyimba’s official social media page, the management of the former Nigerian and African Champions asserted that it never initiated or enforced any salary reduction.

“Enyimba FC wishes to firmly state that at no point did the management approve, initiate, or implement any salary cuts. The club is fully dedicated to upholding the highest standards of professionalism in its interactions with players and staff.

“This report is entirely a fabrication from the writer’s imagination and should be dismissed by the general public.

“As a professional club, Enyimba FC communicates all official decisions and updates solely through its verified channels,” the club stated.

Enyimba also pointed out that the media outlet that disseminated the alleged 50 percent salary reduction did not confirm the claims with the club’s official platforms or management.
