Heartland head coach Emmanuel Amuneke has reflected on his side's stunning away win over Rangers.
The Naze Millionaires defeated the title holders 2-0 at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, on Sunday.
Suraju Lawal and Isaac Nassy scored both goals for the Owerri club.
It marked Heartland's second away win of the 2024/25 season.
The victory has significantly boosted the Owerri club’s chances of maintaining their top-flight status.
“I think the important thing is that we’ve come to believe in what we’re doing,”; Amuneke said.
“We’ve been creating lots of chances, but unfortunately haven’t always been able to convert them. But today, in such a big game against the defending champions, Rangers-a team with great potential and achievements-it was very, very important that we took the two chances that came our way and managed the game well. That’s exactly what we did.”;
Heartland have now moved to 15th position on the table with 41 points.
The former champions will host Kwara United in their next league fixture this weekend.
