The Jigawa State Police Command has issued 59 cheques totaling N31,450,025.16 to the families of deceased police officers.
The command's spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu Adam, shared this information in a press release provided to DAILY POST.
CP Dahiru presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector General of Police as part of the Group Life Assurance (GLA) and IGP Family Welfare Scheme to the fifty-nine (59) families of officers who lost their lives while on active duty.
He noted that this initiative is part of the ongoing welfare program led by Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, which aims to offer financial assistance and moral support to the families of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in service.
He characterized the fallen officers as “heroes who sacrificed their lives in the defense of peace, justice, and national unity.” He stressed that their sacrifices will always be remembered, and the Nigeria Police Force remains dedicated to ensuring the welfare and well-being of their dependents.
CP Dahiru Muhammad encouraged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely and responsibly for the benefit of their families and dependents.
He reiterated that the Nigeria Police Force, under the progressive leadership of the Inspector-General of Police, is committed to upholding the principles of discipline, accountability, and enhancing welfare for both serving and retired personnel.
The CP assured that the Command will continue to support all efforts aimed at boosting personnel morale and family welfare.
In response on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Surajo Shehu expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Inspector-General of Police and the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Command, for their compassion and steadfast commitment to the welfare of families left behind by fallen officers.
He assured that the funds received would be utilized responsibly and meaningfully to honor the legacy and memory of their loved ones.
