The England midfielder’s leveller came a quarter of an hour after substitute Harvey Barnes raced through on goal and fired the Magpies ahead in the 74th minute.

Forest jump up to 15th in the table after an eighth consecutive league game unbeaten, putting on the cusp of mathematical safety.
