The African Democratic Congress (ADC) stated that no one is accusing the Federal Government of Nigeria of persecuting Christians in the nation.

In an interview on Politics Today, a program on Channels Television monitored by DAILY POST on Tuesday, the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Bolaji Abdullahi, mentioned that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) perceives any form of criticism as an attack against them.

Abdullahi made this remark in light of the allegations of Christian genocide made by President Donald Trump of the United States.

DAILY POST reports that Trump also stated he had inquired with the Defence Department whether the Nigerian government “continues to permit the killing of Christians.”

The ADC spokesperson remarked, “No one is accusing this government of persecuting Christians or exhibiting religious bigotry. They are missing the point.

“The APC believes that any form of criticism is a direct assault on them, and they have shown a history of incompetence. The type of government we have resembles someone who makes others embarrass him.

“Unlike the APC, we do not view the situation—particularly the designation as a ‘Country of Particular Concern’—as mere opportunism.

“We feel ashamed as Nigerians that outsiders are framing our security challenges in ways that could further divide us.”
