The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, has asserted that the ruling party is not under the control of any governor, emphasizing that authority within the APC is rooted in its national framework.

During an appearance on the SunseT program on Jay FM in Jos, Plateau State, Yilwatda elaborated that decisions made at the state level are initially planned and guided by the party's national leadership, in accordance with the APC's organizational structure.

He mentioned that the party operates strictly based on its structure rather than personal agendas, highlighting that no individual possesses control over the APC.

“Nationwide, no one can dominate any faction of the party. All activities at the state level are coordinated at the national level. This is how the APC functions. We adhere to structure, not sentiments or emotions,” he stated.

Yilwatda further noted that governors, senators, local government chairpersons, and even the national chairman do not have absolute authority over the party.

To mitigate internal conflicts, he indicated that the APC has intentionally refrained from establishing a Board of Trustees, stressing that the party is owned by the people.

“This is why the APC does not have a Board of Trustees. The people themselves serve as the trustees of the APC, unlike other parties where a select few control the party structures. As national chairman, I am not supervised by a Board of Trustees; I oversee my own actions,” he concluded.
