Robinson Ewor, a former Caretaker Committee Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of misappropriating public funds.
Ewor asserted that the state is currently functioning without an approved budget for the 2026 fiscal year.
He made these claims on Wednesday during the visit of the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, to Ahoada East Local Government Area.
According to Ewor, the governance in Rivers State has been impeded by a lack of cooperation between the executive and legislative branches.
He cautioned that without a formally ratified appropriation law, all state expenditures would be deemed unlawful.
“The government is structured to include an executive, a legislature, and a judiciary.
“All three branches must collaborate to effectively deliver the benefits of democracy to the state.
“As it stands in 2026, the state does not have a budget. Any spending we undertake from January 1 onward will be illegal,” the PDP leader stated.
Ewor urged the state government to maintain transparency with its citizens.
“Therefore, I advise them to embrace their roles as leaders. They should communicate openly, be transparent, and tell their constituents the truth,” he added.
