Factional National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Samuel Anyanwu, has said there are no factions in the party.
Anyanwu addressed the press after the meeting of leaders of political parties with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday.
According to him, a recent judgment by the Federal High Court sitting Ibadan, Oyo State, has set the pace for fast recovery for the opposition party.
He said the party has its candidates ready for the upcoming Federal Capital Territory Council election, insisting that the PDP is positioning itself to win the election.
“It’s a matter of fact, because with our party, we have no problem. We have no faction. We have just one PDP in Nigeria under the leadership of my chairman, Abdulrahman Mohammed
“First of all, it’s very clear Nigerians are aware, we had issues, hardcore issues but last week, matter of fact, the Federal High Court in Ibadan made it very clear that the problem of PDP is over because the so called convention of November 15-16, 2025, is a nullity, and that no other person should parade himself or herself as PDP chairman.
“No other person has that full powers to speak for the party, to work, administer for the party accept the National Working Committee led by Abdulrahman Mohammed,” Anyanwu said.
On why his faction has not taken over the party’s national Secretariat, he added, “You know the police sealed the place, and then the other group went to court to ask police to open and the matter was dismissed because they have no locus.
“So by Monday, we’re taking over the office. The party members are already happy because those who were afraid they won’t be able to context the next election now have nothing to worry about. The matter is settled.”
