Her brother, Giuseppe Musella, 28, later handed himself in to police and allegedly confessed to the killing.
He reportedly told investigators a fight had begun on Tuesday because Jlenia had been playing music too loudly.
“We argued because she wouldn’t let me sleep, I threw the knife while her back was turned but I didn’t think I would hit her,” Giuseppe is reported to have told cops.
He was apparently “resting” when his sister turned up the volume of her music.
Father Maurizio Patriciello, parish priest of Caivano, said in a statement: “She was stabbed by her brother because she was making noise, perhaps listening to music, and her brother wanted to sleep.”
“So, he stabbed her in the back, and then dumped her outside the hospital,” he said.
The siblings lived alone on a housing estate in Ponticelli, Naples – a deprived neighbourhood notorious for drug dealing and organised crime.
It’s understood Jlenia had returned to the flat she shared with her brother after a weekend away with friends to see a popular DJ.
She was allegedly punched and slapped in the face before being stabbed in the back.
He then picked her up, put her in his car and left her at the local emergency department at Villa Betania Hospital, it is alleged.
Police reviewed CCTV from the hospital and claim it was her brother who dumped her.
He then left, wandering aimlessly until he decided to turn himself in to investigators.
Giuseppe currently being held in Naples’ Secondigliano prison, after an arrest warrant for voluntary homicide.
He is believed to be a prominent member of the Casella-Circone clan, which controls illegal activities in the area.
Giuseppe also has professional football aspirations.
Their mother and stepfather are in prison for unrelated crimes.
Jlenia was very active on social media.
“She was like a ray of sunshine, always glowing – it’s unthinkable that her smile is gone,” a local young man told Italian media.
