- Application for Tinted Glass Permit
The Nigeria Police Force has announced its plans to resume the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit.
This information was shared in a press statement signed by CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, the Force Public Relations Officer, and distributed to the media.
He mentioned that the re-enforcement of this policy is pending the final resolution of the matter currently before the court.
The statement indicated that this decision follows a thorough review of emerging security issues and the necessity to ensure the safety of all citizens.
It also stated that the enforcement of the Tinted Glass Permit will recommence on January 2, 2026.
According to the statement, βIt is essential to clarify that the court has not at any time restrained the Nigeria Police Force from enforcing the provisions of the law regarding the use of tinted glass on vehicles.β
βIn the interest of responsibility, transparency, and public convenience, the Force suspended enforcement to provide motorists ample opportunity to regularize their documentation and complete the registration process without undue pressure.β
βIt has been noted that some individuals and organized criminal groups have taken advantage of this suspension to hide their identities and facilitate crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, and other violent offenses. Therefore, the Nigeria Police Force has deemed it both necessary and urgent to resume full enforcement as a proactive measure to protect our communities.β
The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, assured the public that the renewed enforcement will be conducted with the highest level of professionalism, respect for citizens' rights, and in compliance with existing laws.
However, the statement urged motorists who need the Tinted Glass Permit to apply through the authorized channels and ensure that their vehicles meet legal requirements.
