Nicole told the Las Culturistas podcast that the actor’s love of falafel did him no favours when it came to locking lips.

“When Alexander Skarsgård ate a falafel sandwich before we did the scenes in Big Little Lies, I’m like, ‘No, no, no, Alex. I’m meant to be into you and kissing you – put away the falafel now,’ she said.

“I’m sure he did not eat a falafel ever again. I said, ‘No more falafel. Not before you kiss, not before you make love.'”

Nicole told how poor dental hygiene is a big no-no when it comes to starring opposite a love interest.

“I cannot stand bad breath,” she said. “This is a deal-breaker for me. You could be the most gorgeous, gorgeous guy, and if you came at me with bad breath, I’m like, no.

“If I say, ‘Breathe on me’, and I have to recoil, yikes, I’m out. You could not offer me enough money.”

The Aussie star even joked she was relieved when she lost her sense of smell after having the coronavirus, saying: “Finally, I was free.”

Away from the spotlight, the pair had allegedly lived separate lives for the past three years.

She recently opened up about the separation to Variety , insisting the couple are doing their best to provide a stable foundation for their daughters Sunday Rose, 17, and Faith Margaret, 15.

Nicole and the girls have remained at the family’s Nashville mansion in the affluent suburb of Green Hills where they count her Big Little Lies co-star as a neighbour.

“What I’m grateful for is my family, and keeping them as is, and moving forward. That’s that. Everything else I don’t discuss out of respect,” said Nicole.

“I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family’, and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”

She cleared her head by travelling the world, visiting far-flung places such as the Galapagos Islands and Machu Picchu in Peru.

Now, her focus is on a bumper year of work and promotion with the long-awaited adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s Scarpetta set for release on Prime Video.

Then, later in the year, Practical Magic 2 will hit screens – reuniting Nicole and 30 years on from the original’s release.

She is also shooting the third series of Tyler Sheridan’s Lioness and a chilling horror movie by Osgood Perkins.

Nicole Kidman's love life

Nicole and Tom Cruise were labelled a ‘golden couple’ when they hooked up in 1990.

After meeting on the set of Days of Thunder, the two married within the year and became Hollywood’s most scrutinised power couple for over a decade, during which they adopted two children, Isabella and Connor.

Following their divorce, Nicole entered a ‘single in NYC’ period, most notably resulting in a quiet, year-long engagement to rock star Lenny Kravitz (2003–2004). She was also briefly linked to singer Robbie Williams following their hit duet ‘Somethin’ Stupid.’

In 2006, she began what would become her most enduring partnership with country star Keith Urban.

The pair moved to Nashville, raised two daughters (Sunday Rose and Faith Margaret), and were celebrated for nearly two decades as one of the industry’s most stable and affectionate marriages.

Nicole was credited with helping Keith beat addiction after he suffered a relapse just months into their marriage.

However, after 19 years together, the couple finalised their divorce in January 2026.
