EASTENDERS star Shona McGarty has confessed that she has hacked at her hair with a knife and WD-40 as she issued a plea for help from fans.
The actress, 35, took to her account to share what she had done to her locks instead of waiting to get booked in with a professional stylist.

Shona – who played Whitney Dean in the soap between 2008 and 2024 – reminded fans that she usually rocks either very long black or red hair.
But explained in the video that she became “impatient” and decided to take matters into her own hands.
Shona said: “Instead of waiting for a professional to take out my hair extensions, which consisted of weave and tapes, I decided that no, no I am not going to wait.
“I am actually going to try and take them out myself.

“If I am being brutally honest, and I will be, and please don’t try this at home, I used… You’re going to think I am crazy. I am.
“… A very small knife, WD-40, nail varnish remover and some .
“And they’re gone. That means that I now look like Lord Farquad, and I am going to change my hair.
“I am going to go a completely different colour. But I want some suggestions.
“Completely different colour, different length, andjust changeg it up a bit.
“So let me know what you think I should do. Don’t come for me, I know that you shouldn’t put WD-40 or nail varnish remover in your hair.
“Or a knife. But here we are!”
The soap star, who is currently her former co-star Tony Discipline, then pulled her hair tie out and showed off her shorter locks.
“Please don’t judge me, I have so much conditioner in my hair right now,” she told followers.
“Yeah it has seen better days. It’s terrible. But I don’t care. Anyway, this will be gone. I haven’t seen my little bob for so long.
” I just feel so bald right now without extensions, once you get used to them, you can’t live without them.
“Let me know what I should do.”
Shona captioned the post: “Oops… hair … DO NOT DO WHAT I HAVE DONE!!
“Help! What colour should I go? Xx @Ashley I need ya help!!
“Let me know in the comments section what you think.. xxx.”
Her followers suggested a range of colours in the comments section including copper, blue, caramel brown and ice blonde.
