“Some days, the last two years have dragged by in slow, agonizing silence; other days, it feels like only a heartbeat since I last saw your face, heard your voice, or laughed with you.

“Time is a strange thing now.

“People talk about time healing all wounds, but what they don’t understand is that time doesn’t take the pain away—it just teaches us how to carry it.

“And my arms have been carrying the weight of missing you every single day since you left.

“I find myself looking for you in the smallest places. It’s in the quiet morning light, the songs you used to love, the way a specific memory catches me off guard when I least expect it.

“I still want to pick up the phone and tell you things.

“I still feel the massive, gaping space where you belong in this family, in this world, and in my heart.

“People sometimes wonder why the second year can feel just as hard, or even harder, than the first.

“The fog of the beginning lifts a little, and the quiet settles in. But my love for you hasn’t quieted down at all.

“It is just as loud, just as fierce, and just as present as it has always been.

“You were my son yesterday, you are my son today, and you will be my son for all the rest of my days.

“I hope you know how deeply you are remembered. I hope you see how much of you still lives on in the stories we tell, the tears we shed, and the love we refuse to let go of.

“I miss you more than language can hold, Liam. Until we meet again, thank you for being mine.

“With all my love, forever and always, Mom / Dad.”
